Have You Heard “Malaysia Is Not Worth Visiting”?; This Is Why I Think You Should Ignore Those Comments

I planned my trip to Malaysia and everyone was saying I should have chosen somewhere else! I was worried that I made the wrong choice until the first night spent at Kuala Lumpur.

This is based on my experience on a two-girl trip to Kuala Lumpur and Langkawi island:

Shopping 🛍️

Kuala Lumpur:

If you are a shopaholic you could even spend a few full days at Kuala Lumpur for shopping. We shopped at 3 shopping malls — Pavilion KLSuriya KLCC, and Mid Valley MegaMall. Pavilion KL is all about upscale designer brands while Suriya KLCC and Mid Valley MegaMall have both designer brands and other (more budget-friendly) brands.

Langkawi:

Langkawi is a duty-free island. There are few shopping complexes in Kuah. We shopped only at Langkawi Parade since we only had a limited amount of time.

Affordable Food and Accommodation 🍲

Kuala Lumpur:

Food wasn’t a problem at all in Kuala Lumpur as there were so many food options available. One big highlight was Jalan Alor Night Food Market in Bukit Bintang where you mainly can enjoy Chinese food. And do not forget to try ‘Nasi Lemak’, the national dish of Malaysia.

We stayed at Holiday Inn Express Kuala Lumpur City Centre on a B&B basis. Their accommodation was comfortable and breakfast had a variety of food options! I recommend staying at this hotel!

Langkawi:

Stayed at Bayview Hotel Langkawi on a B&B basis and the view from our room was amazing.

One evening, we enjoyed good food and drinks in a comfy environment at Yellow Cafe Langkawi looking at the Andaman sea.

Take a few Insta Worthy pictures 📸

Kuala Lumpur:

KL Tower — The 7th Tallest Freestanding Tower in the World

You can enjoy the city view of Kuala Lumpur when you go to the top floor of the KL tower. Please note that there will be a long queue if you are going to take pictures at the Sky Boxes.

Thean Hou Temple — The Temple of the Goddess of Heaven

No queues to take pictures!; But an amazing place. It is an old Buddhist temple.

Petronas Twin Towers — The Landmark of Kuala Lumpur

You will have to try hard to get a perfect picture here.

Langkawi:

Eagle Square — The Emblem of the Langkawi Island

Don’t forget to take a picture with this 12-meter monument if you go to Langkawi as it is Langkawi’s emblem.

Langkawi Sky Bridge — The Longest Free Span and Curved Bridge In The World

To go to Langkawi Sky Bridge, first you need to take the Langkawi Cable Car to the top station. It is an incredible experience where you can enjoy an amazing view. Unfortunately, we had to go there on a rainy day and because of the mist we missed the view at some points and we weren’t able to make it to the Sky Bridge as well. To have a better experience I would suggest visiting there on a sunny day.

Langkawi White Sandy Beaches

There are a few famous beaches in Langkawi such as Pantai Cenang, Tengkorak, Tanjung Rhu, Black Sand Beach — to name a few.

We went to Pantai Cenang beach on the western coast of the island. We were lucky enough to capture a beautiful sunset too while enjoying a drink.

I definitely would do Malaysia again since there is so much more to explore!
